“My best self is…”
Write that sentence at the top of the page in your journal. And then allow yourself to free write anything that comes to mind. Don’t judge it, don’t get caught up in the mind by overthinking it. Just simply write until you fill the entire page.
When the page is filled, go back and re-read it objectively. Simply taking note of what areas in your life you are not acting as your best self, what habits are the antithesis of what your best self would do. Every sentence you read you become more and more aware.
Then, with this new found awareness, you have a choice. You can choose to rid yourself of habits that are not aligned with your best self, or you can choose to continue doing what you’re doing because we were given free will here on Earth.
What choice you make is not anyone’s concern but your own. However, I’d bet that your new found awareness will stir up the desire to shift.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as a choice.
Don’t like the way you’re living? Choose again.
Don’t like the way you’re reacting? Choose again.
Don’t like the job you’re working? Choose again.
It’s all a matter of choice. And in order to make an informed decision; we must, first, become aware.
I started my day today with this practice and I am sinking into deep awareness of where I am not being my best self.
Is this a practice you’re willing to try?
